Green & Resilient Infrastructure Built for Future Generations

INFRASTRUCTURE

Regional Connectivity Through Multimodal Transit

River Park is designed for connectivity to its current and future surroundings, including the first phase implementation of Austin’s Light Rail system. Complying with the East Riverside Corridor Regulating Plan adopted in 2013, the grid-like block design is intended to create a dense walkable village, similar to the block structure of Downtown Austin. Greater flexibility to access parks and transportation through sidewalks, shared-use paths, dedicated cycle tracks, off-street trails and tree lined streets are integral to the River Park master plan.

The River Park neighborhood will connect people regionally between Downtown Austin and the Austin Bergstrom International Airport via the light rail transit line along E. Riverside Drive. The Bus Rapid Transit system along Pleasant Valley will provide increased connectivity north to Mueller and south to Goodnight Ranch.

Resilient Infrastructure Built for Future Generations

River Park represents a major investment in infrastructure for E. Riverside that will improve the local conditions while also having greater regional impact. The neighborhood will feature a new urban streetscape grid, a variety parks and open space, trails, green stormwater infrastructure, utilities, and a restoration of Country Club Creek.
